Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains

I think I have a few good mountain stories to show and tell here.  Hopefully, not enough to bore you.

Chimney Rock, NC

This is how you get to the top if you don’t use the elevator which we didn’t, but it’s nice there is one and has been since the family that created this attraction built it back in the 40’s.

A view from the top floor.  The one thing we noticed from the folks coming down the stairs is that none of them were dry.  This climb is/was very demanding.  Even the fit folks were soaked, but it was a lot of fun.  And I had the idea to take extra water to the top just in case – this turned out to be an awesome idea!

  1. Great to see another NC person here! Loved these photos. I’ve not been to Chimney Rock since I was a child. I have family in the area and it’s been on my list to re-do for quite a while.

This image of the flag on top of Chimney Rock – do you have to take the stairs to get this shot?

    • Sorry for the late response… yes you’ll need to take the stairs to each elevation. There’s an elevator that runs but I don’t know if it stops at the different levels of the stair walk up. Its definitely worth the walk to experience these beautiful vistas.
